How it works
A Tool Library works just like an ordinary library, except instead of borrowing books, you can borrow all sorts of equipment. We have over 300 items in our tool library, from sewing machines, drills and saws to mechanical tools, gardening tools and cooking equipment. We are continually adding to and updating the library.
The tool library is currently open during the following hours:
Monday 10am-12pm
Tuesday 10am-12pm
Thursday 4pm-6pm
Saturday 10am-12pm
How to borrow tools
In order to borrow tools from the library, you need to become a member. The suggested membership fee is £30 (if you plan on using it often and you can afford it), but is completely on a pay-as-you-feel basis. We ask that you only pay what you can afford and you don’t need to pay anything if you don’t think you’ll use it often. Once you have joined, you can borrow as many tools as you wish, for free.
Join online
You can join the tool library online, through our website. You will be able to pay your membership fee, view and reserve tools. However, we will not be able to check out tools to you until we have verified your identity. You can do this the first time you come to collect tools by bringing along photographic ID and something with your address on it, dated within the past 3 months.
