As the seasons turn and we enter Autumn we are greeted with hedgerows loaded with highly nutritious and medicinal fruits, and many biennial and perennial herbaceous plants die back for the winter allowing us to harvest their roots. In and around our towns we have many cycle paths that essentially act as wildlife corridors, connecting up green spaces and parks that are full with these common species – so you don't need to go far to find your Autumn bounty!
This is a great time of year to forage many of these immune boosting offerings and to prepare them into remedies, ready for any winter infections – syrups, oxymels, jams, teas, tinctures...it's endless!
We will be outside for 2 hours and walking very slowly so remember to wrap up warm and wear appropriate footwear. Even if it’s hot in the sun it can be chilly in the woodland and walkways can get muddy if there has been rain.
