we call it the "reboot” service. hERES WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW…

Are you looking for a safe, secure way to dispose of laptops or computers? Do you want to reduce your environmental impact, all for free?

If you're a Stirlingshire business, charity, or an any type of organisation, we can help you.

what DO we do?

Our Laptop and Computer Disposal Service will pickup your unwanted devices, and professionally, permanently sanitise/delete every last byte of data. This free data sanitisation service offers you peace of mind, knowing that you are complying with the latest data protection and environmental legislation.

What happens to your items?

We take your old unwanted computers and refurbish them to be sold or passed on to local residents for low or no cost. First though, we use a specialist software process to ensure 100% data-destruction, to the strictest UK legislative standards so you don’t have to worry about any personal or business data on the computers. Your business/organisation is then provided with a certificate-of-data-destruction for peace of mind and to keep on file for any potential future auditing purposes. Once the data is permanently removed, our team get to work refurbishing or recycling your old or unwanted laptops and computers, rather than having them end up in landfill. We call that a win/win.

How to use our service

Are you a business or have more than one laptop/computer? – then simply book a collection slot and we'll collect your old computers. Just use that link to email us and we’ll get everything arranged.

There is never any charge for anything.

  • The pickup is free

  • The data-destruction is free

  • Your certificate-of-data-destruction is free

Or are you a resident with only one laptop/computer? If so, please drop it off at our (Transition Stirling) office in Stirling town centre (because we can’t pickup these single computers from you I’m afraid). Drop it off anytime we are open, no appointment needed. Click here to see where we are, or see if there's a drop off point nearer where you live.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

We are managing a number of projects to reduce the amount of these computers ending up in landfill, whilst at the same time putting the computers to good use to improve digital inclusion (one example being Stirling residents who are unable to get online for job hunting).

We are able to provide opportunities for local residents in need to obtain free IT equipment, for our volunteers to learn new skills, and to establish the service long term for the benefit of our local environment and communities.

The laptops and computers we receive are – once refurbished – either given to local residents in need (for free), or sold (all proceeds raised from these sales go directly toward helping Transition Stirling in our environmental goals) or recycled with a zero-landfill policy. Nothing goes to waste.
